My planet distance scale thing

Description:

Improving upon what my group did at the ending programs at the Great Hall.

Group activity at Macy

"I used 2 inch PVC pipe with connector so I can store it and used different connector so the rings I cut from 3 inch PVC would not fall off. On the (9) inch rings I affixed 9 different poly ropes on scale. The rings allowed the ropes to turn freely while orbiting without a May Pole effect. Scale of only 20 meters. (When I scale for 40 meters the distance for Mercury saw approx. half a foot verses Pluto at approx 137' vs. 50', just too large for a possible indoor space, plus cost) I wanted it to be able to get wet, sturdy, cheap-under $20, durable, accurate. Poles will disassemble for storage and portability."
