Purpose:

To determine the factors affectng the appearance of impact craters and ejecta.

Brief Description:

Create colored layers. Students drop marbles at varying velocities and angles to study effects of the impacts.

Hints:

  • Build model at the location you are using -- transporting is difficult.
  • Xerox paper box lids work well.
  • Vary the material within each layer
  • The more impacts, the more you will lift different levels of material.
