Exploring the Solar System

Reports from a Workshop Presented by NASA for Girl Scouts of the USA
April 19-23, 2002

Home Activities Photos & Roster Ideas & Action!

"Research has consistently shown that at an early age girls are discouraged from entering scientific fields. Even girls who do well in math and science tend not to choose such careers. However, the support and guidance of informed and enthusiastic adult partners in the nurturing Girl Scout environment can lay the path for girls' successes in science.

"'Exploring the Solar System' [was] a 4-day workshop sponsored by NASA's Office of Space Science Solar System Education and Public Outreach Forum. The workshop [was] designed especially for Girl Scout trainers, who will return to their councils ready to train leaders to share fun and easy space science activities with girls."
